Who We Are

From Left-Right: Chris, Kaitlyn, Ann, and Joey

S.A.F.E. was a dream-turned-reality that began in 2021. Its core values are grounded in our President’s own: Wholeheartedness, Kindness, Appreciation, and Hard Work. Ann, her husband, Chris, and her two children, Kaitlyn and Joey, strive to provide opportunities for young people to succeed.

“I’ve been extremely fortunate to be part of such a loving, well-rounded, ambitious family. All my life my parents have made a concerted effort to encourage volunteerism. Helping others was just what we did. It’s become so ingrained in me that most of my life surrounds it. My degrees, career, and hobbies all involve doing for others. When my Mom asked me to be on the Board for S.A.F.E., I didn’t even hesitate!

What We Do

Dream it.

“It was 2016 when we dropped off our eldest child at college. As we moved her in, we noticed students that did not have some of the basic necessities to start their college career. This was the inspiration for us to start S.A.F.E.

Many young adults entering higher education do not get the often unthought of tools to give them the best chance at success. Others take out loans and work endless hours to pay their way, but don’t have the bandwidth to think about the little things.

We want to award our aid on volunteerism, need, and academic accomplishments. Merit of the heart and mind!”

- Ann TenHoeve, President
